Francisco Django Bustamante GraphicFilipino pool player Francisco Django Bustamante is the sole Filipino in the last eight at the Turning Stone XI Classic billiards competition being played at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York (August 14-17, 2008).

Francisco Bustamante beat Dennis Hatch with a 9-5 score to set-up a showdown with Raj Hundal, who had earlier scored a 9-4 victory over Ronnie Wiseman, 9-4.

2007 US Open Champion Shane Van Boening, aka The South Dakota Kid, won over Filipino pool player Jose Amang Parica with a 9-0 score. Jose Parica, who initiated the Filipino billiards invasion, was booted out of the competition via a 9-6 loss to Shawn Putnam in the losers' bracket.

To Django: Your friends at the Makati Pool Players Association and the whole of the Philippine billiards community are rooting for you! And I kid you not! Mabuhay!
