Elvis Calasang GraphicElvis Calasang, an Overseas Filipino Worker, led the big winners of the 2008 Billiard Stars Search (BSS) 10-Ball Competition held at the Star Billiards Center in Grace Village, Quezon City. Elvis Calasang won the Division A Championship of the inaugural tournament, beating Demosthenes Pupul with a 9-7 score. Calasang’s impressive run to the crown bagged him the P30,000 first prize and a seat in the China leg of the 2008 Guinness 9-Ball Tour!

John LA Garde grabbed the Division B Championship and Php20,000 prize via an exciting hill-hill victory over Richard Talibong, while Rommel Amiscary ruled Division C and took home Php20,000 with his 7-3 win over Stephen Villagonzalo.

The BSS 10-Ball Competition, which spread over a period of 7 days, was sponsored and hosted by Star Billiards and organized by the Billiards & Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP). The divisional championship tournament drew an impressive total of 165 players, i.e., 47 competitors in Division A, 43 players in Division B, and 75 participants in Division C! And I kid you not!
